Queridos alunos,

Vamos dar continuidade ao nosso estudo sobre conversações.

Tenham em mente a importância desta prática, pois é neste momento que você vai se adaptar com diálogos, vai compreender palavras e expressões e conseguir se comunicar, responder, formando conversas fluídas e trabalhando o spoken english, ou seja, o inglês do dia a dia, natural, falado rápido.

Repita o processo de estudo:

1 - Ouça sem fazer a leitura e tente compreender o máximo possível.

2 - Depois ouça enquanto faz a leitura e associa as palavras que ouve com as que lê, repetindo a pronúncia em voz alta.​

3 - Por último, faça a leitura das conversações sem ouvir o áudio, apenas repetindo a pronúncia que acabou de aprender e colocando em prática.

Estes 3 simples passos treinam seu cérebro e tornam seu estudo muito mais produtivo, eficiente e lhe traz os melhores resultados.

71 - Taking a taxi.

Taxi : driver: Alô Srta. Você precisa de um táxi? / Hello Miss, do you need a taxi?

Mary: Sim. / Yes.

Taxi : driver: Você tem alguma bagagem? / Do you have any luggage?

Mary: Somente duas malas / Just these two suitcases.

Taxi : driver: OK, eu as colocarei no porta-malas pra você. Para onde você vai? / OK, I’ll put them in the back for you. Where are you going?

Mary: Para o Comfort Inn. / The Comfort Inn.

Taxi : driver: Eu acho que existem dois em Boston. Em qual deles você vai? / I think there are two in Boston. Which one are you going to?

Mary: O do centro da cidade. / The one downtown.

Taxi : driver:   É a sua primeira vez em Boston? / Is this your first time in Boston?

Mary:  Não, eu já estive aqui muitas vezes. Eu venho aqui a trabalho o tempo todo. Você sabe quanto tempo vai levar? / No. I’ve been here many times. I come here for work all the time. Do you know how long it’ll take?

Taxi : driver:   Não deve demorar muito. Provavelmente uns 15 minutos. / It shouldn’t take long. Probably about 15 minutes.

Mary:  Uau, parece que o tráfego está muito ruim. / Wow, it looks like the traffic is really bad.

Taxi : driver:   Sim, deve ter algum acidente aí na frente. / Yeah, there might be an accident up ahead.

Mary:  OK, então pare no próximo cruzamento. EU vou descer lá e pegar o metrô. / OK, then stop at the next intersection. I’m gonna get out there and take the subway.

72 - We're not lost. 

Linda:  Você está com fome? / Are you hungry?

Robert: Não, por que? / No, why?

Linda:  Nós estamos dirigindo há um bom tempo. Eu acho que é melhor encontrarmos um lugar pra comer logo. / We’ve been driving for a long time. I think we’d better find some place to eat soon.

Robert: Não eu estou OK. Nós estamos atrasados então é melhor não pararmos. / No, I’m OK. We’re late so we’d better not stop.

Linda: Nós passamos pela mesma loja três vezes já. Eu acho que estamos perdidos. Nós deveríamos perguntar as direções para alguém. / We’ve passed that same store three times already. I think we’re lost. We should ask someone for directions.

Robert: Nós não estamos perdidos. / We’re not lost.

Linda:  Eu nunca fui por este caminho antes. Você sabe onde você está indo? / I’ve never gone this way before. Do you know where you’re going?

Robert: Sim, esta estrada vai pela cidade. É mais rápido do que pela rodovia. / Yes, this road goes through town. It’s faster than the highway.

Linda: OK. Você se importaria em dirigir um pouco mais devagar por favor? / OK. Would you mind driving a little slower please?

Robert: Claro, sem problemas. / Sure, no problem.

Linda:  Você viu o sinal alí atrás? Eu acho que esta é uma rua de uma mão só. ; Did you see that sign back there? I think this is a one way street.

Robert: Não eu não ví. Eu vou ter que voltar. / No, I didn’t see it. I’m going to have to turn around.

Linda: Você não pode retornar aqui. Eu acho melhor você deixar eu dirigir. / You can’t turn around here. I think you should let me drive.

Robert: Eu acho que você está certa. Eu estou ficando cansado. / I think you’re right. I’m getting tired.

73 - Help me find my purse...

Barbara: Adam, você pode me fazer um favor? / Adam, can you do me a favor?

Adam:  Claro. / Sure.

Barbara: Eu não consigo encontrar minha bolsa. Você pode me ajudar? / I can’t find my purse. Can you help me?

Adam:  Sem problemas. Eu te ajudo a procurá-la. / No problem, I’ll help you look for it.

Barbara: Obrigada. / Thanks.

Adam:  Que cor ela é? / What color is it?

Barbara: É preta. / It’s black.

Adam:  Você procurou na cozinha? / Did you look in the kitchen?

Barbara: Sim eu já olher lá. / Yes, I already looked there.

Adam:  Eu vou olhar na sala. / I’ll look in the living room.

Barbara: Você a encontrou? / Did you find it?

Adam:  Não. Não está lá. Quando foi a última vez que você a viu? / No. It’s not in there. When was the last time you saw it?

Barbara: Eu a tinha quando eu fui na biblioteca esta manhã. / I had it when I went to the library this morning.

Adam:  Você acha que pode ter deixado lá. / Do you think you might have left it there?

Barbara: Talvez. Eu vou telefonar na biblioteca e perguntar se alguém a encontrou. / Maybe. I’ll call the library and ask them if anyone found it.

Adam:  Espere! É ela? / Wait! Is this it?

Barbara: Sim, é ela. Esta é minha bolsa. Obrigada por me ajudar a encontrá-la. / Yes, That’s it. That’s my purse. Thanks for helping me find it.

74 - Taking pictures. 

William: Desculpe-me senhor, voce tiraria uma foto da gente? / Excuse me, sir, will you take a picture of us?

Susan:  Claro. Esta é mesmo uma boa câmera. / Sure. This is a really nice camera.

William: Obrigada meus pais a deram pra mim. / Thanks, my parents gave it to me.

Susan:  Como você a usa? / How do you use it?

William: Você aperta este botão aqui. / You press this button here.

Susan: Venham um pouco mais perto. Espere, é muito perto. Movam um pouco para a esquerda. Movam de volta um pouquinho. OK, fiquiem exatamente aí. / Come a little closer. Wait, that’s too close. Move a little to the left. Move back a little farther. OK, stay right there.

William: Você quer dizer aqui? / Do you mean here?

Susan:  Sim, está bom. Nossa, não consigo fazê-la funcionar. / Yes, that’s good. Oh, I can’t get it to work.

William: Você precisa ficar com o botão apertado por uns 3 segundos. / You need to hold down the button for about 3 seconds.

Susan: OK, entendí, vocês estão prontos? / OK I got it, are you ready?

William: Sim. / Yes.

Susan: Sorriam. / Smile.

75 - I dropped your calculator. 

Thomas: Oi Tracy. O que se passa? / Hi Tracy. What’s going on?

Tracy: Oi Thomas. Eu estou esperando na fila pra comprar um DVD. / Hi Thomas. I’m waiting in line to buy a DVD player.

Thomas: A fila é muito longa. Por que você não volta amanhã? / The line is too long. Why don’t you come back tomorrow.

Tracy: Eu acho que você está certo. Eles vão fechar logo. / I think you’re right. They’re going to close soon.

Thomas: Vamos tomar um café. / Let’s go get some coffee.

Tracy: OK. Espere um momento. Eu tenho que tirar uma coisa da minha bolsa. Você segura isso pra mim? / OK. Wait a minute, I have to get something out of my purse. Will you hold this for me?

Thomas: Claro. Opa. / Sure. Oops.

Tracy:  O que aconteceu? / What happened?

Thomas: Eu derrubei sua calculadora. Quebrou? / I dropped your calculator. Is it broken?

Tracy: Eu não tenho certeza. Deixe-me ver. Não, eu acho que não está quebrada. O botão se soltou. Eu posso consertar / I’m not sure. Let me have a look. No, I don’t think it’s broken. The button came off though. I can fix it.

Thomas: Sinto muito por isso. / Sorry about that.

Tracy:  Não se preocupe com isso. Eu faço isso o tempo todo. Se ela está quebrada, eu tenho outro no meu carro. / Don’t worry about it. I do that all the time. If it is broken, I have another one in my car.

76 - I brought you an apple. 

Richard: Ei, como você chegou aqui? / Hey, how did you get here?

Jennifer: Eu vim de bicicleta. / I rode my bike.

Richard: Tá falando sério? Por que você fez isso? Eu poderia ter ido te buscar. / Are you serious? Why did you do that? I could have picked you up.

Jennifer: Tudo ok. Eu não queria te incomodar. Eu sei que você não gosta de acordar cedo. / That’s OK, I didn’t want to bother you. I know you don’t like to wake up early.

Richard: Isso é gentil da tua parte. Você não está com frio? / That’s so nice of you. Aren’t you cold?

Jennifer: Não, não muito. Eu vestí um casacão. / No, not really. I wore a coat.

Richard: O que tem no saco? / What’s in the bag?

Jennifer: É um tipo especial de maçã. / It’s a special type of apple.

Richard: Nossa. Posso experimentar uma? É bem doce. / Oh. Can I try one? It’s very sweet.

Jennifer: Eu coloquei açúcar nela. Estas maçãs são realmente boas. Custaram somente 30 centavos cada. / I put sugar on it. These apples are really good. They were only 30 cents each.

Richard: Elas não são mais caras que as do supermercado? / Aren’t those more expensive than the ones at the supermarket?

Jennifer: Sim, elas são mais caras mas são mais saborosas. / Yeah, they’re more expensive, but they taste better.

Richard: Você comprou alguma outra fruta? / Did you buy any other fruit?

Jennifer: Bem, além das maçãs, eu comprei laranjas e bananas. / Well, besides the apples, I bought oranges and bananas.

77 - My mother-in-law is coming tomorrow.

Lisa: Alô? / Hello?

James: Oi. Você ainda está acordada? / Hi. Are you still up?

Lisa: Sim / Yes.

James: Você parece cansada, está tudo bem? / You sound tired, is everything OK?

Lisa: Sim, tudo bem. Eu só estou me preparando pra ir pra cama. Foi um longo dia. / Yeah, everything’s fine. I’m just getting ready to go to bed. It’s been a really long day.

James: Você tem tempo pra tomar um café comigo mais tarde? Eu tenho uma coisa que eu quero falar com você. / Do you have time to get some coffee with me later? I have something I want to talk to you about.

Lisa: Não, lamento. Não hoje. Eu tenho que acordar cedo amanhã. / No, sorry. Not today. I have to get up early tomorrow.

James: O que você vai fazer amanhã? / Oh, What are you going to do tomorrow?

Lisa: Minha sogra está vindo então eu tenho que acordar cedo e limpar a casa. / My mother-in-law is coming over so I have to get up early and clean the house.

James: Eu sei. / I see.

Lisa: Você está livre amanhã? / Are you free tomorrow?

James: Sim, à tarde. Eu tenho que terminar uma coisa em que estou trabalhando mas estarei livre depois das 15h30. / Yes, in the afternoon. I have to finish something I’m working on, but I’ll be free after 3:30.

Lisa: Você quer se encontrar depois que você terminar o trabalho? / Do you want to get together after you finish work?

James: Você acha que você vai ter tempo? / Do you think you’ll have time?

Lisa: Sim, minha sogra vai embora lá pelas 14h. / Yeah, my mother-in-law will be leaving here around 2PM.

78 - Jim cancelled the meeting. 

Jessica: Ei, Eu acabei de falar com o Jim. / Hey, I just talked to Jim.

Mark: O que ele disse? / What did he say?

Jessica: Ele disse que teve que cancelar a reunião desta tarde. / He said he had to cancel the meeting this afternoon.

Mark: Puxa. / Oh, I see.

Jessica: Tem algum problema? / Is there a problem?

Mark:  Não. Não é grande coisa. Ele e eu deveríamos falar com alguns clientes novos hoje. / No, It’s not a big deal. He and I were supposed to talk to some new customers today.

Jessica: Lamento ouvir isso. / Sorry to hear that.

Mark:  Está OK. Isso tem acontecido com bastante frequência recentemente. / It’s OK. This has been happening quite a bit recently.

Jessica: Isso é estranho. Eu me pergunto por que? / That’s strange. I wonder why?

Mark:  A esposa dele tem estado doente então às vezes ele tem que ir pra casa cedo para cuidar dela. / His wife has been sick, so sometimes he has to go home early to take care of her.

Jessica: Sei. Como anda o trabalho. / I see. How’s work been going?

Mark: AS coisas estão lentas agora. Você se importa se eu empresto o teu telefone, o meu está sem bateria e eu tenho que ligar para o meu chefe para falar isso. / Things are slow right now. Would you mind if I borrow your phone, mine’s out of batteries and I have to call my boss to tell him about this.

Jessica: OK, deixe-me buscá-lo. Está no carro. / OK, let me go get it. Its in the car.

79 - Bill got fired. 

John: Alô? / Hello?

Ann: Oi John, me desculpe te ligar tão tarde. Eu espero que eu não o tenha acordado. / Hi John, sorry for calling so late, I hope I didn’t wake you up.

John: Na verdade eu estava terminando um trabalho. Eu ainda não fui pra cama. / Actually, I was just finishing some work. I haven’t gone to bed yet.

Ann: Você soube que o Bill foi demitido ontem? / Did you hear Bill got fired yesterday?

John: Não. Eu não ouví isso. Você tem certeza? / No. I didn’t hear that. Are you sure?

Ann: Sim, a Sara me disse nesta tarde. Ela estava bem chateada por isso. / Yeah, Sarah told me this afternoon. She was pretty upset about it.

John: Isso é muito ruim. O Bill é um ótimo rapaz. / That’s too bad. Bill’s a nice guy.

Ann: Sim eu sei. / Yeah, I know.

John: Por que eles o despediram? / Why did they fire him?

Ann: Ela não disse. / She didn’t say.

John: Puxa. Bem, se você falar com a Sara novamente, diga a ela que tem uma oportunidade de emprego na minha empresa. O Bill pode ter uma entrevista nesta semana se ele quiser. / I see. Well, if you talk to Sara again, tell her there’s a job opening at my company. Bill can have an interview this week if he wants.

Ann: Nossa, muito obrigada. Eu vou ligar e contar pra ela. / Oh, thank you so much. I’ll call her and tell her.

80 - Nervous about the surgery. 

Karen: Oi Jim. / Hi Jim.

Jim: Oi Karen. Você parece chateada, o que está errado? / Hi Karen. You look upset, what’s wrong?

Karen: Não é nada. Eu estou apenas um pouco nervosa. / It’s nothing. I’m just a little nervous.

Jim: Está tudo bem? / Is everything all right?

Karen: Bom, eu tenho uma cirurgia amanhã no meu dedo. / Well, I’m having surgery tomorrow on my finger.

Jim: O que há de errado com o teu dedo? / What’s wrong with your finger?

Karen: Eu o quebrei outro dia jogando basquete. / I broke it the other day playing basketball.

Jim: Nossa, que terrível. / Oh, that’s terrible.

Karen: Sim, tem me incomodado desde aquele dia. / Yeah, it’s been bothering me since that day.

Jim: Você está com medo da cirurgia? / Are you afraid of having surgery?

Karen: Sim, eu nunca fiz uma cirurgia antes. / Yes. I’ve never had surgery before.

Jim: Eu não me procuparia. Eu fiz uma cirurgia na minha perna no ano passado. Tudo foi bem. / I wouldn’t worry. I had to have surgery on my leg last year. Everything went fine.

Karen: Você estava nervoso antes da cirurgia? / Were you nervous before the surgery?

Jim: Um pouco. Que é o teu médico? / A little. Who’s your doctor?

Karen: Dr. Allen. / Dr. Allen.

Jim: Eu ouví que ele é muito bom. Eu não acho que você tenha algo do que se preocupar. / Oh, I’ve heard he’s really good. I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

Karen: Bom. Isso me faz sentir melhor. / Good. That makes me feel much better.​​​​​​​​​
