Queridos alunos,
Vamos dar continuidade ao nosso estudo sobre conversações.
Tenham em mente a importância desta prática, pois é neste momento que você vai se adaptar com diálogos, vai compreender palavras e expressões e conseguir se comunicar, responder, formando conversas fluídas e trabalhando o spoken english, ou seja, o inglês do dia a dia, natural, falado rápido.
Repita o processo de estudo:
1 - Ouça sem fazer a leitura e tente compreender o máximo possível.
2 - Depois ouça enquanto faz a leitura e associa as palavras que ouve com as que lê, repetindo a pronúncia em voz alta.
3 - Por último, faça a leitura das conversações sem ouvir o áudio, apenas repetindo a pronúncia que acabou de aprender e colocando em prática.
Estes 3 simples passos treinam seu cérebro e tornam seu estudo muito mais produtivo, eficiente e lhe traz os melhores resultados.

51 - Studying for exams.
Shawn: Oi Kim / Hi Kim.
Kim: Oi Shawn, bom te ver novamente. / Hey Shawn, good to see you again.
Shawn: Como você tem estado? / How have you been?
Kim: OK, eu não dormí muito na noite passada. Eu fiquei acordado até às 2 da manhã estudando para um exame. / OK, I didn’t sleep much last night though. I stayed up until 2AM studying for an exam.
Shawn: Eu fiquei acordado até tarde ontem à noite também. O semestre está quase terminando. Eu tenho tido exames toda a semana. / I was up late last night too. The semester is almost over. I’ve had exams all week.
Kim: Você vai voltar para a Califórnia depois que se formar? / Are you going back to California after you graduate?
Shawn: Ei acho que sim. Depois que me formar provavelmente eu volto pra casa e tento achar um emprego. / I think so. After I graduate I’ll probably go back home and try to get a job.
Kim: Você sabe onde você gostaria de trabalhar? / Do you know where you’d like to work?
Shawn: Não ainda, mas eu quero ser um tradutor de inglês. / Not yet, but I want to be an English translator.
Kim: Isso é muito legal. Eu também gostaria de ser tradutora mas eu acho que meu inglês não é bom o suficiente. / That’d be really cool. I’d like to be a translator too, but I don’t think my English is good enough.
Shawn: Não se preocupe com isso. Seu inglês é bem melhor do que o de muitos dos meus colegas. / Don’t worry about that. Your English is better than most of my classmates.
Kim: Obrigada. O que você vai fazer agora? / Thanks. Where are you going now?
Shawn: Eu vou estudar na biblioteca. Eu tenho um exame amanhã. / I’m going to study at the library. I have to take an exam tomorrow.
Kim: Eu també,. Até que horas a biblioteca fica aberta? / Me too. How late does the library stay open?
Shawn: Eu acho que fica aberta até às 23h30. / I think it’s open until 11:30PM.
Kim: Ok, boa sorte. / OK, Good luck.
Shawn: Pra você também. / You too.
52 - Did you get my message?
Angela: Alô? / Hello?
Dan: Oi Angela, é o Dan. / Hi Angela, it’s Dan.
Angela: Oi Dan. Como vai você? / Hi Dan. How are you?
Dan: Bem. / Good.
Angela: Eu te liguei ontem. Você recebeu a mensagem? / I called you yesterday. Did you get my message?
Dan: Sim. Eu estava tomando banho quando você telefonou. Eu ví que você ligou e eu tentei te ligar de volta mas eu acho que teu telefone estava desligado. / Yes, I was taking a shower when you called. I saw that you called and I tried to call you back, but I think your phone was off.
Angela: Sem problemas. Eu queria te lembrar que meu amigo se casa na semana que vem. Você ainda vai ao casamento comigo, certo? / No problem. I wanted to remind you that my friend is getting married next week. You’re still coming to the wedding with me, right?
Dan: É na próxima semana? / Oh, is that next week?
Angela: Sim, você esqueceu? / Yes. Did you forget?
Dan: Não claro que não. Eu já comprei um presente pra eles. / No, of course not. I already bought them a present.
Angela: Que bom. Eu queo convidar a Megan também. Da próxima vez que você a ver você pode dizer a ela por mim? / That’s good. I want to invite Megan also. Next time you see her, can you tell her for me.
Dan: Claro. Ela conhece o teu amigo? / Sure. Does she know your friend?
Angela: Sim, eu acho que eles foram na mesma universidade ou algo assim. Eu não tenho certeza de como eles se conhecem exatamente / Yes, I think they might have gone to the same college or something like that. I’m not exactly sure how they know each other.
Dan: Nós vamos juntos dirigindo? / Are we all going to drive together?
Angela: Sim, eu te pego primeiro e depois nós vamos pegar a Megan. / Yes. I’ll pick you up first, and then we’ll go get Megan.
53 - Making a doctor's appointment.
Adam: Oi. eu gostaria de ver o médico por favor. / Hi, I’d like to see the doctor, please.
Receptionist: Você tem hora marcada? / Do you have an appointment?
Adam: Não / No.
Receptionist: Para quando você gostaria de marcar? / When would you like an appointment?
Adam: Hoje é possível? / Is today possible?
Receptionist: Sim. Hoje está bem. A que horas você gostaria? / Yes. Today is fine. What time would you like?
Adam: Assim que possível. Meu estômago está doendo mesmo. / As soon as possible. My stomach really hurts.
Receptionist: Por favor, espere um momento. Eu vou ver se o médico está disponível. / Please wait a moment. I’ll see if the doctor is available.
Adam: OK. / OK.
Receptionist: Lamento, ele está com um paciente agora. Provavelmente vai demorar uns 30 minutos. Você se importaria esperar um pouco mais? / Sorry, he’s with a patient right now. It’s probably going to be about another 30 minutes. Would you mind waiting a little longer?
Adam: Sem problemas. / No problem.
Receptionist: Posso ver a carteirinha do seguro por favor? / May I see your insurance card please.
Adam: Aqui está. / Here you are.
Receptionist: Obrigada. A visita de hoje é 25 dólares. / Thanks. That’s going to be 25 dollars for today’s visit.
Adam: Mesmo? Eu não pensei que fosse tanto. / Really? I didn’t think it would be that much.
Receptionist: Eu entendo como se sente. / I know how you feel.
Adam: Eu pagarei em dinheiro. / I’ll pay with cash.
Receptionist: Obrigada. / Thank you.
Adam: Você poderia ligar o aquecedor: Está muito frio aqui. / Would you please turn on the heat? It’s really cold in here.
54 - Look at the mail.
Bill: Ei, Jane, você já recebeu as correspondências? / Hey Jane, did you get the mail yet?
Jane: Sim, eu as apanhei esta manhã. Tinha umas poucas contas e uma carta da tua mãe. Tinha ainda muita tranqueira. / Yes. I picked it up this morning. There were a few bills and a letter from my mother. There was also a lot of junk mail.
Bill: Tinha alguma coisa pra mim? / Was there anything for me?
Jane: Eu não me lembro, deixe-me ver. Sim, pareque que tem alguma coisa pra você. / I don’t remember, let me check. Yes, it looks like there’s something here for you.
Bill: De que é? / Who’s it from?
Jane: Da Embaixada Americana. / The American Embassy.
Bill: Minhas mãos estão sujas. Você pode abrir pra mim? / My hands are dirty. Will you open it for me?
Jane: Claro. / Sure.
Bill: O que diz? / What does it say?
Jane: Diz que teu passaporte está pronto. Você pode ir buscar a qualquer hora. / It says your passport is ready. You can pick it up anytime.
Bill: Você acha que pode me levar lá? / Do you think you can drive me there?

55 - I have a cold.
Tracy: Como você está se sentindo? / How are you feeling?
Alan: Eu ainda estou com gripe. / I still have a cold.
Tracy: Ainda? Já tem mais de uma semana agora, não tem? / Still? It’s been over a week now, hasn’t it?
Alan: Sim, já faz um tempo. Eu comecei a me sentir assim na segunda passada. / Yeah, its been a while. I started feeling this way last Monday.
Tracy: Você está se sentindo melhor um pouco? / Are you feeling any better?
Alan: Um pouco. Eu tomei remédio nesta manhã e eu me sinto um pouco melhor agora. / A little. I took some medicine this morning and I feel a little better now.
Tracy: O que está errado? / What’s wrong?
Alan: Eu tenho muita tosse. / I have a bad cough.
Tracy: Você já foi ao médico? / Did you go see the doctor yet?
Alan: Não ainda, eu devo ir amanhã. / Not yet, I might go tomorrow.
Tracy: Eu estou indo na farmácia, posso comprar algo pra você? / I’m going to the drug store now, can I get you anything?
Alan: Sim, se não for muito trabalho, você me compraria lenços de papel? / Yes, if it’s not too much trouble, would you get me some tissues.
Tracy: Claro. Algo mais? / Sure. Anything else?
Alan: Não. Só isso. / No, that’s it.
Tracy: Ok, eu voltarei em mais ou menos uma hora. Se você se lembrar de algo mais que você precise, me ligue. / OK, I’ll be back in about an hour. If you think of anything else you need, give me a call.

56 - Dinner invitation.
Barbara: Oi James, é bom te ver novamente. / Hi James, it’s good to see you again.
James: Oi Barbara. / Hi Barbara.
Barbara: Você está aqui a trabalho? / Are you here for work?
James: Sim. / Yes.
Barbara: O Steve está contigo? / Is Steve with you?
James: Não, eu estou sozinha. O Steve não pode vir desta vez. / No I’m here alone. Steve couldn’t come this time.
Barbara: Quanto tempo você vai ficar? / How long will you be staying?
James: 4 dias. Eu retorno na sexta. / 4 days. I’m going back on Friday.
Barbara: Meu irmão e eu vamos jantar. Você gostaria de vir conosco? / My brother and I are getting together for dinner. Do you want to come with us?
James: Sim, isso seria bom. Eu tenho uma reunião em uma hora. Eu posso encontrá-los depois, se estiver OK. A reunião não deve demorar muito. / Yeah, that would be nice. I have a meeting in an hour. I can meet you afterwards, if that’s OK. The meeting shouldn’t last long.
Barbara: Está bom. Com quem é a reunião? / That’s fine. Who is your meeting with?

57 - Send me the directions.
Frank: Alô? / Hello?
Pam: Oi Frank, é a Pam. / Hi Frank, it’s Pam.
Frank: Ei Pam, o que se passa? / Hey Pam, what’s up?
Pam: Não muito. Onde você está. / Not much. Where are you?
Frank: Eu estou no carro indo pra casa. / I’m in the car driving home.
Pam: Quando você chegar em casa você me envia um email com as direções para a festa de hoje à noite? / When you get home will you send me an email with directions to the party tonight?
Frank: Claro, sem problemas. / Sure, no problem.
Pam: Quando você acha que chega em casa? / When do you think you’ll get home?
Frank: Eu não sei, talvez em uns 30 minutos. Tem muito tráfego. / I don’t know, maybe in about 30 minutes or so. There’s a lot of traffic.
Pam: Eu tenho que sair logo. Você pode apenas me mandar um mensagem de texto com o endereço? / I have to go out soon. Can you just send me a text message with the address instead.
Frank: OK, Eu farei isso assim que chegar em casa. / OK, I’ll do that as soon as I get home.
Pam: Muito obrigada. Dirija com cuidado. / Thanks a lot. Drive carefully.
Frank: OK. Te vejo hoje à noite. / OK, I’ll see you tonight.

58 - Bad cell phone reception.
Sharon: Alô? / Hello?
George: Oi Sharon, é o George novamente. A que horas você acha que vai chegar na festa hoje à noite? / Hi Sharon it’s George again. What time do you think you’ll get to the party tonight?
Sharon: Lamento, o que você disse? / Sorry, what did you say?
George: Alô, você pode me ouvir? Eu disse a que horas você acha que vai chegar na festa? / Hello, can you hear me? I said what time do you think you’ll be getting to the party?
Sharon: Lamento, eu não consigo te escutar. / Sorry, I can’t hear you.
George: Você pode me ouvir agora? / Can you hear me now?
Sharon: Não, não muito claramente. Tem muito barulho aqui. / No, not very clearly. It’s really noisy here.

59 - Going to the gym.
Tiffany: Ed, o que nós deveriamos fazer hoje? / Ed, what should we do today?
Ed: Eu tenho estudado a semana toda, eu gostaria de me exercitar. / I have been studying all week. I’d like to exercise.
Tiffany: Eu também. Vamos na ginástica. / Me too. Let’s go to the gym.
Ed: Boa idéia. O que nós vamos fazer lá? / Good idea. What are we going to do there?
Tiffany: Nós podemos levantar uns pesos ou jogar basquete. / We can lift weights or play basketball.
Ed: Eu gosto de jogar basquete. Você é boa? / I like to play basketball. Are you good at it?
Tiffany: Não muito mas eu gosto de jogar. Eu costumava jogar quando estava na escola mas agora não tenho tempo. / Not really, but I like to play. I use to play a lot when I was in school, but now there’s no time.
Ed: Eu sei o que você quer dizer. Eu costumo jogar futebol. Voce acha que pode jogar futebol lá? / I know what you mean. I use to play soccer a lot. Do you think we can play soccer there?
Tiffany: Não, não tem lugar. Eu acho melhor se jogarmos do lado de fora. / No, there’s not enough room. I think it’s better if we play outside.

60 - Car accident.
Shannon: Anthony, você está OK? / Anthony, are you OK?
Anthony: Eu estou OK agora, mas eu tive um acidente de carro esta manhã. / I’m OK now, but I got into an car accident this morning.
Shannon: Você se machucou? / Were you hurt?
Anthony: Não mas meu pescoço ainda doi um pouco. / No, but my neck is still a little sore.
Shannon: O que houve? / What happened?
Anthony: Eu não estava prestando atenção e eu batí num carro que estava parado na minha frente. / I wasn’t paying attention and I hit a car that stopped in front of me.
Shannon: As pessoas do outro carro estão bem? / Were the people in the other car all right?
Anthony: Sim, eles estão bem. Eu não estava muito rápido. / Yes, they’re fine. I wasn’t going very fast.
Shannon: Você estava com o cinto de segurança? / Were you wearing a seatbelt?

Shannon: A polícia veio? / Did the police come?
Anthony: Sim, eu os chamei pelo celular logo depois que aconteceu. / Yeah, I called them on my cell phone right after it happened.
