101. I don’t wanna go to school
It was 9 o’clock in the morning. Mark, 7 years old, had just had his breakfast, a bowl of his favorite cereal with milk. His mother was late for work and she was in a rush. She told Mark it was time to go to school, but first, she asked him to brush his teeth. Mark refused to do so. His mother started to feel irritated. She was running late and she didn’t have time to argue with him. She asked him again: “brush your teeth”. Mark started to scream and cry. She didn’t understand what was happening. Then he told her; He didn’t want to go to school and that’s why he was refusing to brush his teeth.
101. Eu não quero ir à escola
Eram nove horas da manhã. Mark, 7 anos de idade, já tinha tomado o seu café da manhã, uma tigela de seus cereais favoritos com leite. Sua mãe estava atrasada para o trabalho e estava com pressa. Ela disse a Mark que era hora de ir para a escola, mas primeiro, ela pediu para ele escovar os dentes. Mark se recusou a fazê-lo. Sua mãe começou a ficar irritada. Ela estava atrasada e ela não tinha tempo de discutir com ele. Ela perguntou novamente: “escove os dentes”. Mark começou a gritar e a chorar. Ela não entendeu o que estava acontecendo. Então ele disse a ela; Ele não queria ir para a escola e por isso ele estava se recusando a escovar os dentes.
102. Bad luck
Natasha is never lucky when she participates in contests. She never wins although she always feels like she will. One day, she told her brother how she was upset about it. He told her she should buy a lottery ticket and choose all of her lucky numbers. This way, maybe she would have better chances to win. Natasha thought it was a good idea. She went to the store and bought one. She picked 10 numbers. She decided to choose, in order, her birthday, her mom’s birthday, her brother’s birthday, her wedding date, the number of dogs she has and her lucky number. The final number was 1228171037. Unfortunately, she didn’t win.
102. Má sorte
Natasha nunca tem sorte quando participa de competições. Ela nunca ganha, apesar que ela sempre se sente como ela vai ganhar. Um dia, ela disse ao irmão como ela estava chateada com isso. Ele disse a ela que ela deveria comprar um bilhete de loteria e escolher todos os seus números de sorte. Desta forma, talvez ela teria melhores chances para ganhar. Natasha acha que é uma boa idéia. Ela vai à loja e compra um. Ela tem que escolher 10 números. Ela decide escolher, por ordem, seu aniversário, o aniversário da mãe, o aniversário do irmão, a data do casamento, o número de cães que ela tem e o número da sorte dela. O número final é 1228171037. Infelizmente, ela não ganhou.
103. Today is boring
It’s Friday night and Michel feels bored. He doesn’t know what to do. He had a hard week at work and he feels tired. His friends are going out, but he doesn’t feel like going with them. He wants to stay relaxing at home with his dogs. He is thinking about watching a DVD. He thinks it’s a good idea, especially if he watches the movie with popcorn. He goes to the video club and decides to rent an old horror movie. He loves horror movies, but he normally never watches them by himself. That night, Michel was very scared. Watching a DVD was maybe not a good idea. He should have gone out with his friends.
103. Hoje está um tédio.
É noite de sexta-feira e Michel se sente entediado. Ele não sabe o que fazer. Ele teve uma dura semana no trabalho e ele se sente cansado. Seus amigos estão saindo, mas ele não tem vontade de ir com eles. Ele quer ficar relaxado em casa com seus cachorros. Ele está pensando em assistir a um DVD. Ele acha que é uma boa idéia, especialmente se ele assistir ao filme com pipoca. Ele vai para o clube de vídeo e decide alugar um antigo filme de terror. Ele adora filmes de terror, mas ele normalmente nunca os assite sozinho. Naquela noite, Michel estava muito assustado. Descobriu que assistir a um DVD talvez não fosse uma boa ideia. Ele deveria ter saído com seus amigos.
104. A busy life
It’s Tom’s wedding day today. He is about to marry the love of his life, Izabella. Tom met Izabella when they were both 18. It was love at first sight. Tom is in his room and the wedding ceremony starts in 10 minutes. He is thinking about all the good memories he has with Izabella and he doesn’t realise the time. When his best man, his brother, comes in the room and sees him still in pyjamas, he can’t believe it. “Get dressed!”, he told him. Tom didn’t realize he was not ready at all. He tries to get dressed and ready as soon as possible, but he arrives late to the ceremony. “Who arrives late at his own wedding?” he asks himself.
104. Uma vida agitada.
É o dia do casamento de Tom hoje. Ele está prestes a casar com o amor de sua vida, Izabella. Tom conheceu Izabella quando tinham 18 anos. Foi amor à primeira vista. Tom está em seu quarto e a cerimônia de casamento começa em 10 minutos. Ele está pensando em todas as boas lembranças que tem com Izabella e ele não vê o tempo passar. Quando seu companheirão, o irmão dele, entra na sala e ve ele ainda em pijama, ele não pode acreditar. “Vista-se!”, Disse-lhe. Tom não percebeu que não estava preparado em nada. Ele tenta se vestir e ficar pronto o mais rápido possível, mas ele chega tarde para a cerimônia. “Quem chega tarde no seu próprio casamento?” Ele pensa por consigo mesmo.
105. I’m so tired
Gina, 65 years old, can’t afford to clean her house by herself anymore. Her back is hurting her too much. Cleaning the floor is too painful. Her children think she should have a cleaning lady. Gina isn’t really enthusiastic about this idea, but she knows she doesn’t have a choice. She decides to hire Lucy, a cleaning lady. Lucy does a great job and Gina is satisfied, but there’s one thing she keeps on forgetting to do. She forgets everytime to vacuum the carpet in the living room. Gina always has to tell her “Please, vaccum the carpet.” It’s a little bit annoying, but Lucy is so lovely that Gina doesn’t mind.
105. Estou tão cansado
Gina, 65 anos, não pode se dar ao luxo de limpar sua casa sozinha. Suas costas estão doendo demais. Limpar o chão é muito doloroso. Seus filhos acham que ela deveria ter uma faxineira. Gina não está realmente entusiasmada com essa ideia, mas ela sabe que não tem escolha. Ela decide contratar Lucy, uma faxineira. Lucy faz um ótimo trabalho e Gina está satisfeita, mas há uma coisa que ela continua esquecendo de fazer. Ela esquece toda vez de aspirar o tapete na sala de estar. Gina sempre tem que lhe dizer “Por favor, aspire o tapete.” É um pouco irritante, mas Lucy é tão adorável que Gina não se importa.
106. Christmas
It’s Christmas today and Ellen is really happy. Her husband bought her a gift and she thinks she knows what it is. She has been wanting some shoes of her favorite designer but these are very pricey. She wasn’t able to afford it by herself, but she thinks it might be the gift her husband got her. When it’s finally time to unwrap the gifts, she is excited. The box has the shape of a shoe box. She unwraps it very quickly. She can’t believe her eyes! It’s the new shoes she wanted. Ellen is very thankful. She gives her husband a big hug and she tells him how much she loves him. She can’t wait to wear her new shoes.
106. Natal
Hoje é Natal e Maggy está muito feliz. Seu marido comprou-lhe um presente e ela acha que ela sabe o que é. Ela tem desejado alguns sapatos de seu designer favorito, mas estes são muito caros. Ela não era capaz de pagar por isso, mas ela acha que poderia ser o presente que seu marido adquiriu para ela. Quando finalmente é hora de desembrulhar os presentes, ela está animada. A caixa tem a forma de uma caixa de sapato. Ela desenrola-lo muito rapidamente. Ela não pode acreditar em seus olhos! São os sapatos novos que ela queria. Maggy é muito grata. Ela dá um grande abraço ao marido e ela diz o quanto ela o ama. Ela não pode esperar para usar seus sapatos novos.
107. New York
Michael has to go to New York City for his work. Actually, he has to go once a month. He loves the city and he loves to be paid to go there, but there’s one thing that really bothers him. He doesn’t like having to saty in a hotel. He is wary of hotel germs. He doesn’t like the idea that so many people have slept in that bed before him. Everytime he goes, he tries to clean everything. He cleans the toilet, the shower and the desk. He can’t wash the bed though and that repulses him. Instead, he brings with him a sleeping bag. This way, he doesn’t have to sleep under the sheets. It’s the best he can do.
107. Nova Iorque
Michael tem que ir para Nova York para seu trabalho. Na verdade, ele tem que ir uma vez por mês. Ele ama a cidade e ele gosta de ser pago para ir lá, mas há uma coisa que realmente o incomoda. Ele não gosta de como ele tem que ficar em um hotel. Ele é meio assustado por germes de hotel. Ele não gosta de como tantas pessoas dormiam lá antes dele. Toda vez que ele vai, ele tenta limpar tudo. Ele limpa o banheiro, o chuveiro e a escrivaninha. Ele não pode lavar a cama embora e isso repugna ele. Em vez disso, ele traz consigo um saco de dormir. Dessa forma, ele não precisa dormir dentro dos lençóis. É o melhor que ele pode fazer.
108. He was washing his car
Johnson was washing his car, no harm in that! He saw his neighbor Katarina with wide eyes and a big smile putting up her garage door, she started to move something from inside; Johnson stopped his charmless chore and wondered what it might be. His neighbor took a motorcycle out of the garage. It was a Harley Davidson. Johnson asked: is it yours? “Yes” Katarina replied. It’s her brand new motorcycle, a gift from her father. Johnson wished he had a motorcycle like that, but at least, he has his car. He asked Katarina if he could ride it. Katarina let him and that made him very happy.
108. Ele estava lavando seu carro
Johnson estava lavando seu carro, sem charme nesta tarefa! Viu sua vizinha Katarina com os olhos verders grande e arregalados e com um sorriso levantando a porta da garagem, ela começou a mover-se calmamente para dentro, Johnson parou sua tarefa sem charme e formulou o que poderia ser. Sua vizinha pegou uma motocicleta de dentro da garage. Era uma Harley Davidson. Johnson perguntou: é sua? “Sim” Katarina respondeu. É a nova motocicleta, um presente que ela ganhou do pai dela. Johnson queria que ele tivesse motocicleta assim, mas pelo menos, ele tem seu carro. Ele perguntou a Katarina se ele pode dar uma volta. Katarina aceita e isso o torna muito feliz.
109. It is so difficult
Daniella is out of work. She lost her job two weeks ago and since then has been unable to find a new job. She is not getting any salary and it’s depressing her because she’s broke. Every time she goes to the grocery store, she doesn’t know what to buy. Everything seems so expensive, even the fruits and the vegetables. The other day, her neighbor, also unemployed, told her that she should make toast. Bread is cheap and so is jam. She can eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner and this way, she would be saving a lot of money. Daniella decides to follow her neighbor’s advice. She is now able to save money until she gets a new job.
109. É tão difícil
Daniella não está trabalhando atualmente. Ela perdeu seu emprego há duas semanas e desde então, ela não encontrou um novo emprego. Ela não está recebendo qualquer salário e isso está a fazendo muito deprimida porque ela está quebrada. Toda vez que ela vai ao supermercado, ela não sabe o que comprar. Tudo parece tão caro, até mesmo frutas e legumes. No outro dia, sua vizinha, que está na mesma situação que ela, disse-lhe que ela deve fazer torrada. Pão é barato e geléia tambem. Ela pode comê-lo para o café da manhã, almoço e jantar e desta forma, ela estaria economizando muito dinheiro. Daniella decide seguir o conselho da vizinha. Ela agora é capaz de economizar dinheiro até que ela recebe um novo emprego.
110. They are still in love.
Bruno and Fanny got married when they were both 27 years old and 25 years later, they are still together. 25 years later, they are still in love. 25 years later, Bruno is still romantic. He still buys flowers once in a while, he still takes her out for dinner. 25 years later, Fanny is still attracted to him. She still likes to look at his smile and at his eyes. She still can’t believe how beautiful he looks. Even after all these years, they are the happiest couple there is. They have 2 children together and now, they are ready to retire from their jobs and to explore their love even more than ever.
110. Ainda estão apaixonados.
Bruno e Fanny se casaram quando ambos tinham 27 anos e 25 anos depois, ainda estão juntos. 25 anos depois, eles ainda estão apaixonados. 25 anos depois, Bruno ainda está sendo um romântico. Ele ainda compra flores de vez em quando, ele ainda a leva para o jantar. 25 anos depois, Fanny ainda é atraída por ele. Ela ainda gosta de olhar para o sorriso dele e para os olhos dele. Ela ainda não consegue acreditar como ele é bonito. Mesmo depois de todos esses anos, eles são o casal mais feliz que existe. Eles tiveram 2 filhos juntos e agora, eles estão prontos para se aposentar de seus trabalhos e para explorar seu amor ainda mais do que nunca.
